Unique features
Motorola Atrix 4g
As Mentioned on CES 2011, this phone will have a laptop dock and the HD dock these will give ou the ability to use it as a laptop, media center and a pseudo-PC
Samsung Infuse 4g
This phone will be using the new Gorilla glass that will protect it from scratches and some hits to the screen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVxj6gRYwS0
Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc
As announced this phone will have the Sony Mobile BRAVIA® Engine, which will improve the image quality from any signal and you will see clearer, sharper and more natural images.
Also the camera in the phone will be using Sony's Exmor R technology
LG Optimus 2X
As seen in some pictures of the phone this will have dual speakers at the bottom of the phone.
HTC Inspire 4g
I didn’t find anything extraordinary or not common like in the other phones it just have good specs, it uses the same CPU than the Nexus one but it is using de new Adreno 205 GPU which have the following features:
- Hardware-accelerated SVG and Adobe Flash®
- Significant improvements in shader performance over Adreno 200 GPU
- Streaming textures that can combine video, camera, SVG and other image surfaces with 3D graphics
Choosing a phone
Given the current data I will like a phone that doesn’t get outdated too fast, nice design, good features and specs.
For some reason I’m not liking that much the XPERIA design so that will that leaves us with 4 phones.
For the moment LG Otimus 2X is out since there was no information for what carrier it is going or its 2G and 3G networks frequencies
So for the moment we have the Atrix, Infuse and Inspire.
- The HTC Insire will give you optimize flash content, faster Google maps rendering, better 3D features.
- The Samsung Infuse is definitely faster than the inspire and its CPU was build around the PowerVR SGX 540 GPU which is the next version from the one on the iPhone 3GS.
- The Motorola Atrix has a 1GHz Dual core Tegra 2 which nVidia has demonstrated its power in several videos on youtube (Unreal Engine 3 na Tegra 2)
So between these three I consider that the Infuse and the Atrix are serious candidates and at some point I would like to do video calls and the HTC Inspire doesn’t have a front camera another point is that I’m not that into the HTC interface, so I’ll leave that one out.
These are basically the main differences between the two phones:
Motorola Atrix 4G | Samsung Infuse 4G | |
Screen | LCD qHD 4” (540x960) | Super AMOLED 4.5” (480 x 800) |
CPU | Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core 1 GHz | single-core 1.2GHz Hummingbird |
Bluetooth | v2.1 with A2DP | v3.0 with A2DP |
Camera (back/front) | 5MP/VGA | 8MP/1.3MP |
Flash | Dual LED | LED |
The interface of both phones are nice both with nice specs the only thing that changes is that the Atrix has both docks on its side so that are a great plus, but until some degree the Samsung can be compared since it has also HDMI output.
For some people something that has a lot of weight in this decision is the carrier contract, but my decision will be based more on the specs since carriers are not very up to date with new phones and smart phone consumer market is mostly dominated by Blackberry and the only reason for this is marketing and because of BB messenger.
I guess I’m going with the Atrix because of the lower size display but higher pixel density, dual-core nVidia Tegra 2, and the accessories.
WINNER: MOTOROLA ATRIX 4G
